EastVanLove Tweetup Vol.6: Social Innovation
#EastVanLove is an ongoing tweetup series which showcase community champions and bring together people who live, work, or simply enjoy one of Vancouver's trendiest and most diverse neighbourhoods, East Vancouver. On May 29th, East of Main, Bee Vancity (Vancouver Observer), and This is Vancity co-produced EastVanLove Vol.6: Social Innovation at Calabash Bistro (428 Carrall St.). With smartphones in hand and surrounding with tasty food, we all listened to Suzanne Siemens & Madeleine Shaw (Lunapads), Geoff Bowers (Free Geek), Noami Steinberg (Vancouver Society of Storytellers), Jacob Hunter (420), and Jenna Herbut (Make It Productions) give us the quick run-down on their socially innovative organizations. Thanks in-kind to Yelp, Saul Good Gifts, Djs Pat Lok & Cyclist, as well as EastVan rappers Atmajestic & Little T, the event was a bumping success of a night.
This video is a great example of the collaborative and all-around celebratory feeling that EastVanLove brings to Vancouver's tweetup community. As a result of the Lena Franford's awesome documentation, people can know more about this hashtag-turned-grassroots-organization. Remember to check out www.eastofmain.com for more updates
(psst: EastVanLove 6.5 is happening in September)!
